    Pvt. Joesph Romines Born March 29, 1842 in George Town, Miegs County, Tennessee. Dies November 6, 1911 near Centrailia, Craig County, Oklahoma while visiting his family. Enlisted first at Sale Creek, Hamilton County, Tennessee under William only a few days after the burning of the East Tennessee and Georgia Rail bridges. And had to flee a few days later because of Confederate troops that the Governor of Tennessee sent to capture and kill all troops under Cornal Clift. Joesph and his 2 older brothers George W and James were caught by Captain McClellands Confederate Troops, taken to Calhoon and then later taken to Knoxville where they were hung until they joined the company A 36 Tennessee Infantry Confederate Army under Captain William Smith. Joseph later got away and joined Company E 5th Tennessee Infantry Regiment under Lieutenant Nat Witt on May 23, 1862 at Pine Knot Kentucky, after many months of travel on the "Underground Rail Road that ran from the Georgia border to the Kentucky border. After the war ended  Joseph returned to Annapolis by ship and while in transit contracted "Typhoid Fever" but got no care until 4 days on a train back to Nashville Tennessee.  Discharged  May 22, 1865 at  Nashville Hospital # 3, while still not able to leave hospital.
